Call for action

The Shefa' Clinic in Bedawi has critical needs with respect to medicine. As of yesterday they were on the verge of closing their doors within 48 hours because they did not have enough medicine to continue their work. We supplied them with critical, urgent medicine, but they have a number of other needs that must be filled. Please see attached file for a list of their specific medicine needs.

We are planning psychosocial activities for the kids who came from Nahr Elbared to Shatila camp with the help of two experts. We as need many volunteers as possible to help. If you are interested or know
anyone who is, please contact me as soon as possible. There will be a meeting tomorrow Monday June 4, 2007 in Ta Marbouta @ 6:00pm concerning that. Whoever is interested can join the meeting.

We are in need of food items: macaroni, rice, and canned foods. We are also requesting clothes. We only have enough for about 50 families at the moment. We especially need conservative clothing and would love for people to donate abayas for the women of Nahr el Bared. If people could mobilize the umma to donate these items, in good or new condition, that would be wonderful.

Burj al Barajneh is requesting toilet paper as well as gas tanks for families to help relieve the burden of housing 30-40 people in private homes.

As a group of concerned citizens from Lebanon, Palestine and abroad, – we are assembling at the entrance of Naher el Bared to voice our dissent at the effect of the continuing siege on the civilian population of the camp. While we condemn the criminal killing of the 30 Lebanese soldiers, we state that the dignity and honor of the Lebanese army cannot be built upon the blood of innocent civilians.
